Visitmaine.com says Harpswell is the definition of a Maine seacoast town – mainly because it’s got so much seacoast. With more than 215 miles of coastline, Harpswell boasts more miles of coastline than any other town on the entire east coast.
This historic community is made up of Harpswell Neck, Cundy's Harbor, Bailey & Orr's Islands and there's also over 200 smaller islands accessible only by boat. Much of the town is made up of small villages known for historic houses, great views and quiet woodlands by the water.
Harpswell and it's islands are said to be the beginning of Maine's rock-bound coast. From the town center, Portland's airport is just 45 minutes away. Real estate in this town is very popular due to it's proximity to Brunswick, Portland and Harpswell has one of the lowest property tax rates in Maine. A home valued at $500,000 will have an annual property tax bill of just over $3,000!
